RSB RS232 Serial Data Buffer ICs
The RSB family of RS232 serial buffers are
designed specifically for capturing small bursts of serial from
peripheral devices like modems, GPS receivers, RADAR units, etc.
They store information internally until the host processor is
ready to receive and process the information. RSB serial buffers
are of greatest benefit when the host is "bit-banging" a
serial port either because the host processor has no background
serial reception capability or if that capability has already been
devoted to another serial task.
Processors like Parallax's BASIC STAMP are greatly
enhanced by the RSB buffer which allows the STAMP to do other
things yet still receive asynchronous serial data. Conventional
processors like the HC11 or 80C51 can also benefit from the RSB
buffers where packet addressing is required or where the built in
ASIC port is devoted to receiving other serial streams.
Features:
- Receive serial data in background
- Requires only one processor pin for bi-directional interface
- Full peripheral side handshake at either full or not empty
- Two RSB509C devices can be interfaced on one host I/O pin
- Eight RSB6505 devices can be interfaced on one host I/O pin
- RSB6505 has full handshake control on host side.
|
- 32 bytes buffer for RSB509
- 64 bytes buffer for RSB6505
- Addressable packet modes
- Line buffer and transmit mode for STAMPs SERIN statement in
RSB6505
- RSB6505 has straight through mode for cascading devices which
multiplies buffer capacity
- RSB6505 has pin strapping mode to set baud rate which requires
no setup from host

RSB6505
Serial Data Buffer P/N#:
RSB6505A
Price:
$7.95
|
The
RSB6505 serial data buffer receives RS232 serial input
and temporarily stores up to 64 bytes. A host processor,
connected via a single serial line, can retrieve data
when it has the time to process it. The RSB6505 may be
jumper configured and act as a handshake controlled
buffer for situations where a host processor is not
required. Up to Eight RSB6505 devices may share a single
host interface pin and be addressed independently by the
host. The device address is set by pin strapping.

or RSB509C-1

RSB509C
Serial Data Buffer P/N#:
RSB509C-X
Price:
$7.95
|
The
RSB509 serial data buffer receives RS232 serial input and
temporarily stores up to 32 bytes. A host processor,
connected via a single serial line, can retrieve data when
it has the time to process it. Two RSB509C devices may
share a single host interface pin and be addressed
independently by the host. The device address is internal
and specified by the final digit of the part number as
either a 0 or a 1.

RSB509B
Serial Data Buffer P/N#:
RSB509B
Price:
$7.95
|
The
RSB509B serial data buffer receives RS232 serial input and
temporarily stores up to 32 bytes. A host processor,
connected via a single serial line, can retrieve data when
it has the time to process it.
